Choose Something Like A Star
Saturday Jan 9 2027, 7pm
Join us on January 9th at 7pm for our winter concert Choose Something Like a Star. This will be the debut concert of Shaun Gibbons, our new Artistic Director, and will feature six movements from Randall Thompson’s masterwork Frostiana. Thompson’s settings of the poetry of Robert Frost forms the centerpieces of our concert, each movement offering a glimpse into the beauty of American rural life.
Our concert also includes pieces from a wide gamut of genres from the 19th century art song, to spirituals, to contemporary popular, that similarly celebrate optimism, reflection and the simple joys of everyday life.
St Paul’s UMC, 406 Main St, Odessa DE. Free parking behind the church, in the street and at the visitor’s parking lot at the State Police station next door. St Paul’s is an accessible venue – please enter at the front.

Joining MCC and Rehearsal Information
MCC welcomes adult and high school singers (grades 9-12) at all levels of ability and experience! We are a friendly, no stress, group of SATB singers and a no-audition chorus. If you are interested in singing with us, please fill out the Contact Form below and come to rehearsal! Rehearsals are Thursday evenings, 7-9:15pm with a break. We started rehearsing on September 10th.
We are currently rehearsing at St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Odessa (406 Main St) – there is parking behind the church, at the state police station next door, and street parking in front. The accessible entrance is at the front.
Dues for the 2026/2027 season are $50/adult per semester; $20/student (high school or college) per semester. There are two semesters in the season. We don’t want people to be unable to sing for financial reasons, so if the dues present a hardship, we offer scholarship support and payment plans. You can pay for your dues on the Members Dues page, or at rehearsal (cash, check made out to Middletown Community Chorus or MCC, or card).
Music will be provided (you will not have to pay for it). There will be an option to purchase for those who like to own the scores.
